I kept my word… Guess that’s where it started.

I learned early how to bite my tongue, How to finish what I began. Shake a hand, don’t look away, Stand your ground like a man. I showed up when it wasn’t easy, Stayed when leaving felt right, Carried weight nobody saw Through another sleepless night.

They said “that’s just how life goes, You’ll be fine if you stay true.” Funny how the ones who taught me that Were the first ones gone when it came due.

I loved hard, I loved quiet, Didn’t need a crowd to see. I fixed what broke when no one asked, Gave the best of what was left of me. I never played the victim card, Never asked for extra ground, But loyalty don’t make a sound When the room starts emptying out.

They said “time will sort it out, Truth always finds its way.” Funny how truth gets heavier With every promise that decays.

I kept my word, it cost me everything, Every mile I walked alone, every unsent apology. I paid in pride, I paid in doubt, I paid in scars I couldn’t trade. Yeah, I kept my word— And I’m the only one who stayed.

I don’t need forgiveness, Don’t need crowns or praise. I just wish it counted for something To be the last one who didn’t break. If this is what honor buys you, If this is the final cost— I won’t say I’d change a thing… But God knows what it cost.
