Factories closed, towns gone quiet, Jobs vanished like they never were. Politicians promise miracles, Then blame someone who can’t answer. But bills still knock like bounty men, And hope still costs more than it should— Yet somehow I keep standing here, Built of bone and busted wood.

Don’t believe the sky is falling ’Til it falls on me. If doom’s the only song they’re singing, I’ll write my own key. Let the networks preach disaster, Let them crown their misery— I’ve outlived their darkest chapters… And my boots still hit this street.
