I’m Not Me in the Dark (Alt 6)

I walked too long with shadows on my back, Let ‘em whisper things that kept my spirit cracked. Thought the night was home, thought it owned my name — But the darkest roads taught me I can change.

These ghosts inside ain’t monsters… Just pieces of the hurt I hid away.

I’m not me in the dark, I’m stronger when I face the fight. Been wrestling with the hurt in my heart, But I’m crawlin’ toward the light. If the past tries holdin’ me under, I ain’t fallin’ apart — ‘Cause I’m not who I was in the dark… I’m learnin’ who I am in the light.

Every fear I fed, it grew like wildfire, Burned the boy I was, left a ghost in wire. But I’m tired of the weight, tired of looking down — Time to shut that voice and take back my ground.

And the demons I was hiding? They ain’t demons — they’re just pain I never named.

I’m not me in the dark, I’m stronger than the storms I’ve known. Every scar is a map through the hard — Proof I made it on my own. If the night tries pullin’ me backward, I won’t fade into that mark — ‘Cause I’m not who I was in the dark… I’m finally walkin’ toward the dawn.

Ohh… I thought the dark was all I’d ever be… Ohh… but the light was waiting inside me…

I’m not me in the dark, I’m rising with a brand new fire. And the man I’m meant to become Is higher, braver, wiser. Let the night fall behind me — I’m done carrying that scar. I’m not who I was in the dark… I’m the man who made it to the light.
